Forty five years ago Dentistry for Children, P.A. opened its doors as a one man pediatric dentistry practice started by Dr. Jack Budnick, one of the first in the state of New Jersey. Dr. Philip Wasserman joined in partnership over 30 years ago. Over the years, Dentistry for Children, P.A. has grown and added pediatric dentists, hygienists, and support staff and continues with the same dedication and high standards we are so proud of. Dr. Robert Spiegel combined his thriving Clifton, New Jersey pediatric dentistry practice with Dentistry for Children in 2001 Dr. Arthur Appel, our orthodontist, joined Dentistry for Children, P.A. last year replacing our long time associate, Dr. William Kuen. In 1990, we moved to our current pediatric dentistry facility and just recently completed a major interior design renovation.
Philosophy
Dentistry for Children, P.A. is open 6 days a week (except during the summer when we take Saturdays off) and we are ready to treat whatever life may throw your child’s way. We operate under the philosophy that under each set of teeth there is a child who may need a bit of reassurance along with a dose of dentistry. It is also important to note that many parents come to us with their own dental apprehensions and part of our job is to reassure them and guide them through the dental process. Pediatric dentistry is not really about complicated dentistry it is more about the psychology and behavior management of the child and parent.
Special Needs
Another important element of Dentistry for Children, P.A. is our special needs patients. Ranging from mild learning disabilities to severe mental and physical disorders, we are ready to treat and care for these children. What may be considered a disruptive child in a general dentist’s office is considered routine in our practice and we deal with these children with great care and understanding. Some of our special needs patients have been with us since the inception of our practice and their families have become part of our family.
Prevention
In pediatric dentistry, there are many areas of prevention and care that are unique to children which the pediatric dentist is specifically trained to identify, treat and prevent. Because of the additional specialized training, many parents choose a pediatric dentist for their children's dental needs, just as they choose a pediatrician for their medical needs. Pediatric dentistry concentrates on prevention, as well as early detection and treatment of dental diseases and problems while keeping current on the latest advances in pediatric dentistry. A pediatric dentist is committed to providing children with top quality dental care in a relaxed, positive and friendly manner.
